Writers Guidelines
Doll Collector is a bi-monthly publication for people who enjoy and appreciate dolls of all kinds: antique, collectable, modern and artist.
Our stories explore every facet of the world of dolls, including: antique dolls and their makers; doll collectors and their collections; doll artists and their art; current trends in dolls; and dolls in society. Our readers are serious and knowledgeable about their hobby and want detailed and lively information. To learn more about our content and style, we suggest you study recent issues.
Most of our writing is done by freelancers who have knowledge about dolls. Although we consider all manuscripts we receive, we prefer that writers new to us query with ideas and/or samples of their writing. First-time assignments are awarded on a speculation basis, and all manuscripts are subject to editorial revision.
Articles run from 500 to 1,200 words. High quality photographs to illustrate articles are welcome. We prefer digital photos that are at least 300 dpi resolution. We also use 35mm color slides, larger color transparencies, and black and white glossies.
Manuscripts should be typed and double-spaced. Disk or email submissions in Word or programs that can be converted to Word are acceptable.
The payment for articles is $50 to $150, depending on the length, information, photos, etc. to be included in the article. Payment is received 60 to 90 days after the article has been published.
Sincerely,
