To be good stewards of our resources, Love INC verifies all requests for assistance and looks at all the programs and ministries in the community which may help. Depending on your request, you may be referred to the Department of Human Services, (DHS) or CALL 211 to determine available government and community resources first before Love INC continues with your assessment.

If you are a person in need of non-financial help, simply do the following:

Call 231-777-3905 and explain to the assessment volunteer your needs. If your need falls into one of our gap ministry categories, the volunteer, after verifying your need and eligibility, will schedule you for a pantry or ministry visit when appropriate. If your need is something other than one of our gap ministries, Love INC may still be able to help by coordinating with church or community volunteers or programs. For some services, a referral from an agency or church may be required.

If you are a person in need of financial assistance including eviction notices, mortgage foreclosures and utility shut-offs:

1. Contact DHS for a decision notice before contacting Love INC.
2. Contact CALL 211 from a land line or 733-1155 from a cell or pay phone
3. Call Love INC at 777-3905 for possible information and referral if other resources are not available.

Love INC believes strongly in empowerment. In many situations, persons are helped holistically through our New Directions Life Skills classes, particularly in our Money Management classes. Individuals and families learn how to spend less than they earn and live within their means, even when those means have been reduced. Persons assisted with financial resources are required to attend our Money Management classes. Please note that financial resources are not commonly available.
